(Downloads - 6)

Description

What you’ll need

  • Printed Joseph’s Coat coloring sheet

  • Crayons/textas or coloured pencils

  • Optional: stickers, tissue paper scraps, glue, child-safe scissors, large sheet of paper for mounting

Talk time (quick teacher script)

“Today we’re colouring Joseph’s special coat. Joseph’s dad, Jacob, loved him and gave him a bright, beautiful coat (Genesis 37:3). God loves you too and made you special!”

Step-by-step

  1. Invite children to colour the coat using lots of colours.

  2. Name the colors together (red, blue, green…).

  3. Count the shapes: stars, hearts, circles, lines, waves, swirls.

  4. Optional: cut out the coat and glue it onto a coloured background.

  5. Decorate with stickers or tissue paper for extra texture.

Learning goals

  • Color recognition & naming

  • Counting & simple maths (how many stars?)

  • Fine-motor skills (colouring, tracing, cutting)

  • Bible truth: Jacob loved Joseph and gave him a special coat. God loves us too.

Memory verse

Genesis 37:3“Jacob loved Joseph … and made him a richly ornamented coat.” (Preschool paraphrase)

Tips for different ages

  • Toddlers: Offer chunky crayons; focus on “many colours.”

  • Pre-writers: Trace along the thick lines or dot-to-dot around the coat.

  • Challenge: Ask children to make a pattern (blue–yellow–blue–yellow).

Extension ideas

  • Sing “Jesus Loves Me.”

  • Play “Find the Color”: call a colour and children point to that colour on their coat.

  • Quick recap: “Who got the special coat? Why was it special?”

Print & prep notes

  • Print on A4; set printer to B/W, fit to page.

  • Heavy paper (160–200 gsm) works best if you’re gluing decorations.
